This Nigeria Matter No Be Rocket Science
I don’t like writing about stuff like this. But the only way to let it out is to talk or write, so let’s go.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but these things we complain about in Nigeria are not as difficult as they make it look.
If I’m wrong, someone should please correct me.
Changing Nigeria or making the system work is not hard. It’s just that the people in charge are clueless and to be honest, it’s not even about thinking before doing things… it’s that they don’t know.
They’re just not that intelligent.
Let’s stop pretending like we need one Harvard graduate to fix this country.
At this current stage, we don’t.
What we need are small, common-sense fixes.
Example: That Bill About Public Schools and Hospitals
So the House of Reps is considering a bill that will stop public servants from sending their kids to private schools or using private hospitals.
The lawmaker behind the bill said the goal is to make public officials use the same systems they control so they’ll finally have sense and fix them.
He believes this will “restore trust” in public education and healthcare.
Now I understand where he’s coming from, and I get the logic.
Yes, it sounds good on paper.
Make them feel the same pain the people are feeling.
But here’s the truth:
You don’t fix broken things by forcing people to use them.
The real issue is not that public servants are not using public services.
The issue is that nobody wants to use them not even the poor.
You don’t force someone to use a hospital with no drugs. You fix the hospital first.
You don’t drag someone to a school with no teachers. You fix the school first.
Even if this bill passes, many of these people will still find ways to escape it.
Private flights for “checkups,” children schooling abroad with scholarships, coded arrangements… we know the game.
If you really want to fix the system, stop making noise and start building something worth using.
So, What’s the Simple Fix?
Let me break it down:
Reduce lawmakers’ salary to something even less than minimum wage.
Only serious people with real jobs will come into politics people who truly want to serve, not chop.
Remove bonuses or reduce them completely.
No more unnecessary allowances for doing nothing.
Pay them based on results.
You deliver results, you get paid. Simple.
Add serious consequences.
If you steal government money, you lose not just your assets but your family’s too. That way, wives, siblings, and relatives will think twice before pushing someone who’s not trustworthy into office.
Let the family be part of the accountability system.
Honestly…
This is just one example of the many things we can fix easily.
But no we’ve allowed clueless thugs to take over positions of power.
People who don’t think.
People who are not interested in changing anything.
Like I always say:
This thing no hard.
We just have the wrong people at the top.
