A clearing company that grew into something bigger
The business has roots going back to 2017, when it operated as Royal Virgilon Resources Ltd. It was officially established as Royal Renacido Consult Ltd in 2019, when founder Udeze Ernest Okechukwu merged his company with his wife’s Renacido Business Services.
Okechukwu did not stumble into maritime. He studied Maritime Management Technology at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), then brought that training straight into the business. The company started in clearing and forwarding, then moved into marine logistics and barging on the strength of his expertise. Both lines run side by side today.
His ambition is plain. “Right from onset my dream is to build a conglomerate, it is my primary goal,” he told Prestige Blended in 2021. He wants companies that outlast him, with branches across major cities of the world.
What the company actually does
Royal Renacido’s core services cover freight forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing, cargo insurance, supply chain management, logistics, and export of agricultural products, solid minerals, and general commodities.
For ocean cargo, the company offers both full container load and less-than-container load options. Overland, it coordinates trucking and haulage across Nigeria and West Africa. For urgent shipments, air freight connects Nigeria to major international airports.
The thread running through all of it is technology. Okechukwu has been blunt about this: “we use information technology to drive our services in a modern world; that is why everything is automated around here.” He has also described the company’s edge in data, calling the team experts in data processing, harnessing, and capturing.
The data system behind the docks
The most ambitious piece of the story sits at the industry level. As a leader in the Barge Operators Association of Nigeria (BOAN), Okechukwu has pushed for an automated application to manage barge operations and create a national data bank for maritime.
His reasoning is long-term. He has said he wants Nigeria to hold accurate import and export data so the country can forecast what the industry will look like in ten, twenty, even fifty years. It is a rare thing: a logistics operator thinking in decades, not shipments.
Where they are heading
The company has spoken of building toward a shipping line and constructing a wet terminal at Imore, Satellite Town, on over six hectares of land, with the stated aim of becoming a leading indigenous maritime company. The diversification has already stretched into construction and oil and gas.
For now, the work is hands-on and visible: staff climbing onto vessels, inspecting cargo, coordinating cranes, and securing loads across the Lagos ports every day.
